MarPAMM asked the thousands of visitors to Oban’s Argyllshire Gathering highland games on 25th August to share what the sea meant to them in words and art.

The MarPAMM stall in the heritage tent provided ample stimulation and information with maps, films and posters about local MPAs and protected species, with our flapper skate model once again a major attractant.

SAMS’ poet in residence Suzannah V Evans and local environmental sculptor Beth Anderson joined the MarPAMM stall to provide guidance and support and to act as judges of the submitted artworks.

Scores of fantastic entries from young and old celebrated the marine environment and empathized with the challenges faced by marine life. There were, however, clear winners when it came to expressing the competition question.
