Oban, 1 Feb 2022: A new interactive map is being launched today that allows visitors to explore the Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) of the Argyll Marine Region. To access it, click here.

Surveys, community events and steering group meetings all highlighted that many people are aware that MPAs exist but have very limited understanding about where these areas are, what they protect, how they work, and who they benefit. People wanted clearer, more accessible and user-friendly information. In response, Argyll-based members of the Marine Protected Area Management and Monitoring project developed this fact-filled resource.

This ‘experience builder’ does not only allow visitors to explore each MPA with supporting documents and links, it also provides information on codes of practice, how to submit data and outlines the various reporting mechanisms.

Please contact our project officer for Argyll if you would like to discuss the resource or engage in other ways with the project: Amie.Williams@nature.scot
