Seas our Future - Visioning marine protection in the Outer Hebrides @ Online

Creative workshops with Taigh Chearsabhagh arts centre, Uist

Join us for a series of FREE creative online workshops for all the family, including children and grandparents, exploring past, present and future An-dè, An-diugh ’s A-Màireach visions for the seas of the Outer Hebrides!
Taigh Chearsabhagh workshops, online on:

Sat 22 May, Sat 29 May & Sat 5 June – 10 – 11:30am

Through creative activities supported by local artist Kirsty O’Connor, young people and adults resident in the Outer Hebrides are invited to explore what matters to you and your community about the sea, and how we can protect it for generations to come.

Activities are designed to be accessible to all ages, abilities and backgrounds, and include stamp making and stenciling, writing, storytelling, and film.

Each workshop will build on the previous one so we encourage you to take part in all three, however supporting materials will available online if you’re unable to make any of the sessions.
Sign up here (by Monday 17th May for the Taigh Chearsabhagh workshops) and you will receive a great kit of materials and info by post.

These activities are being run in collaboration with the MarPAMM project and Creative Carbon Scotland. Building on a survey and creative activities undertaken in 2019 and 2020, the workshops will contribute towards the development of a shared vision for the protection of our seas and the management of Marine Protected Areas in the Outer Hebrides.

MarPAMM seeks to deliver stewardship of the Marine Protected Areas of the Outer Hebrides marine region, putting communities at the heart of the process of developing a management plan for MPAs. We hope this will help to build consensus on the future protection of our internationally important marine wildlife around the islands.

Accessibility: We want to remove barriers to participation in these activities and are happy to make adjustments to prevent people being excluded. If you have any accessibility requirements to allow you to participate in this event, please let us know when signing up or get in touch with andy@taigh-chearsabhagh.org with more information or any questions.
